German CPI in November confirmed at 4-1/2 year low

The official data in Germany released today showed consumer prices were up 0.6% year-on-year in November. Compared with October 2014, inflation remained unchanged in November 2014.

The slowdown in the rate of increases in the mineral oil products pushed the headline figure lower. The price of energy as a whole was down 2.5% from November 2013. However,electricity prices continued to rise (+1.9%) on a year earlier. Excluding energy prices, the inflation rate would have been +1.0% in November 2014.

Meanwhile, food prices remained unchanged in November, while the rise in prices being less pronounced especially for dairy products. Prices of goods as a whole fell 0.2% compared with November 2013, while prices of services fell increased.
